Action Alert: Ron Paul Excluded from Iowa Debate!

June 19, 2007 - Iowans for Tax Relief and Iowa Christian Alliance will host a presidential candidates forum on Saturday, June 30th in Des Moines. Republican presidential candidates Mitt Romney, Sam Brownback, Jim Gilmore, Mike Huckabee, Tommy Thompson, and Tom Tancredo will participate.

Ron Paul, however, will not participate. Why? Because he wasn’t invited.

We heard about this forum from numerous supporters in Iowa who asked why Dr. Paul was not going to participate. Those supporters assumed that Dr. Paul was invited.

The campaign office had not received an invitation so we called this morning; thinking we might have misplaced the invitation or simply overlooked it. Lew Moore, our campaign manager, called Mr. Edward Failor, an officer of Iowans for Tax Relief, to ask about it. To our shock, Mr. Failor told us Dr. Paul was not invited; he was not going to be invited; and he would not be allowed to participate. And when asked why, Mr. Failor refused to explain. The call ended.

Lew then called Mr. Steve Scheffler, president of the Iowa Christian Alliance, to talk with him. Mr. Scheffler did not answer so Lew left a message. He has yet to respond.

Ron Paul second in Utah in straw poll of delegates!

June 10, 2007 - Yesterday, about 15 of us hosted a booth and suite at the Salt Lake City GOP Convention where 1,500 Republican delegates (and many others) came to learn about issues and vote on local representatives. Our presence there was a surprise to many - especially the Mitt Romney and John McCain staff who each had a booth. I think in several ways we may have won the battle this weekend:

Obama warns of black 'quiet riots'

HAMPTON, Virginia - Jun. 5 - Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama said today that the Bush regime has done nothing to defuse a "quiet riot" among blacks that threatens to erupt just as riots in Los Angeles did 15 years ago.

The first-term Illinois senator said that with black people from New Orleans and the Gulf Coast still displaced 20 months after Hurricane Katrina, frustration and resentments are building explosively as they did before the 1992 riots.

Ron Paul: Giuliani dead wrong on foreign policy!

ARLINGTON, VA – May 24 - Congressman Ron Paul and Dr. Michael Scheuer, head of the former CIA Bin Laden Unit, spoke today at the National Press Club on former mayor Rudolf Giuliani's foreign policy views.

After the press conference, Dr. Paul issued the following statement:

"Experts, scholars, administration officials and bi-partisan investigators all tell us that 50 years of interventionism in the Middle East has compromised the security of America. To deny that bad policy has serious negative repercussions is to deny reality.

Ron Paul campaign issues "Reading for Rudy"

ARLINGTON, VA – May 24 - The Ron Paul presidential campaign issued the following reading list for Rudy Giuliani to educate himself on foreign policy.

"I hope Rudy Giuliani reads these books from top foreign policy experts," said campaign chairman Kent Snyder. "We have also included some Cliffs Notes in case Mr. Giuliani is too busy giving $100,000 speeches on national security."

Michigan GOP Director retracts call to bar Ron Paul from debates!

After consulting with my fellow RNC members, I believe there isn't anything to be gained by advancing a petition aimed solely at removing Congressman Ron Paul from the debates.

I do, however, think we should continue to look at the bigger picture, the problem of how our Party is going to adapt to the new realities of this very long primary season.

Congressman Paul's controversial statements about the United States and who's to blame for 9/11, combined with the splendid reaction of Mayor Giuliani and then my own heated reaction, stole the spotlight from the bigger point I really wanted to make and still think is important - continuing these "debates" as they are currently structured is not to our benefit, nor to the candidates', nor to our Party, nor to the country.

Edwards: Move Past War on Terror!

NEW YORK (AP) - Democrat John Edwards Wednesday repudiated the notion that there is a "global war on terror," calling it an ideological doctrine advanced by the Bush regime that has strained American military resources and emboldened terrorists.

In a defense policy speech he planned to deliver at the Council on Foreign Relations, Edwards called the war on terror a "bumper sticker" slogan Bush had used to justify everything from abuses at the Abu Ghraib prison to the invasion of Iraq.
