Election 2008
Censorship of your vote: GOP polls remove Ron Paul!
September 17, 2007 - It has long been the contention of GOP straw polls that Ron Paul supporters were "spamming" their poll. They threatened to remove his name, and now they've gone and done it - though exactly when they did it is not clear. Ron Paul supporters only began to mention it recently in any case.
Ironically, the list below does not contain the name of Alan Keyes, either. Whether this is an oversight, or intentional, remains to be seen.
Ron Paul is running at five percent in New Hampshire and garnering plenty of press and debate attention nationwide. Bill O'Reilly just featured him and CNN also sought to have him on the air. 60 Minutes is reportedly doing a feature on Ron Paul.
With so much attention being paid to one candidate, albeit not an official "front-runner" it makes little sense for a major Internet poll to remove his name. The poll itself, rather than Ron Paul, risks a long, slow slide into irrelevancy.

Additionally, www.pajamasmedia.com began banning Ron Paul as early as February of 2007. The site now carries the following note regarding their presidential poll:
- Over 130,000 votes have been cast in the weekly PAJAMAS MEDIA PRESIDENTIAL STRAW POLL. The thirty-fifth week has officially begun.
NEW DEAL: Pajamas Media editors have noted that the number of weekly votes in our poll has diminished drastically from the tens of thousands cast at the outset. For months now, many readers have been complaining to us about the increasing inutility of the poll because of vote-swarming by second tier candidates. Many voters have lost interest and are not participating. Websites that had run our widget were no longer doing so.
Something needed to change.
Therefore, especially since the campaign itself appears to be narrowing its focus to front-running candidates, henceforth the Pajamas Media Poll will be restricted to those first tier candidates listed on the front poll page of the leading online poll aggregator Real Clear Politics. As of now, that is four candidates on the Democratic side and five on the Republican. We will change our lineup on the Sunday after RCP does, if it does.
Pajamas media poll:
- Fred Thompson 30 46.9%
- Rudy Giuliani 21 32.8%
- Mitt Romney 8 12.5%
- John McCain 4 6.3%
- Mike Huckabee 1 1.6%
Ron Paul to appear in Florida on Monday September 17th!
September 15, 2007 - Ron Paul, riding a surge of momentum, will be in Florida on Monday, September 17 for three events.
First is a VIP Reception at the Ft. Lauderdale River House; second is the Values Voters’ Presidential Debate sponsored by the American Family Association and moderated by Joseph Farah of WorldNetDaily; third is a rally at the Las Olas Riverwalk in Ft. Lauderdale sponsored by Miami-Dade Ron Paul 2008 Meetup Group.
The Values Debate will include six republican candidates: Ron Paul, Mike Huckabee, Sam Brownback, Duncan Hunter, Tom Tancredo and John H. Cox. Refusing their invitation are Rudolph Giuliani, Fred Thompson, Mitt Romney, and John McCain. A Values Voters' Presidential Debate for Democrat Presidential candidates was planned for September 24, 2007 and all Democrat Presidential candidates refused to attend.
Las Olas Riverfront is just two blocks from the Broward Performing Arts Center where the debate will be simulcast from 7:45pm - 9:00pm. Metro Café provide a big screen TV and patch the debate through the sound system. Ron Paul will make an appearance after the debate.
Ron Paul western trip a huge success!
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
CONTACT: Jesse Benton 202-246-6363
ARLINGTON, Virginia - September 15, 2007 - Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul today concluded a four-day western tour. Beginning Wednesday, September 12, Dr. Paul visited Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle and Salt Lake in City in successive days. Highlights of the very successful trip included:
- High dollar fundraisers that brought in over $350,000.
- Substantial earned media from top outlets in each host city.
- A speech at the University of Southern California to 800 students.
- An impromptu walk through the streets of San Francisco with 400 supporters.
- A lecture at Seattle University that drew 550 students.
- A rally in Seattle attended by 1,300 supporters.

Ron Paul MeetUp confab sets big rally!
September 14, 2007 - A recent, internal Ron Paul campaign phone conference among the New England 'Net MeetUp groups should help maximize attendance at the upcoming Ron Paul Family Rally in New Hampshire, where the Ron Paul campaign is hoping to put 1,000 volunteers “on the street.” The Internet MeetUp groups network the Paul campaign has cultivated has been instrumental in expanding the Ron Paul campaign and providing decentralized volunteerism.
The rally will be held on Saturday, September 29th, and then turn into a “Family Walk" with up to 30 or more Ron Paul family members. Teams of volunteers will distribute literature and also proceed to canvass the cities of Manchester and Nashua. The goal: to knock on 50,000 doors in a weekend.
Volunteers are said to be coming from up and down the East Coast, as far away Baltimore, though many are bound to come from New England thanks to the MeetUp group cooperation.
Unlike in many other presidential campaigns, cameras are being encouraged so that volunteers can videotape the proceedings. “Ron Paul has no fear of being filmed in an informal setting,” explained one source close to the campaign. “He’s confident of his message, and the increasing popularity he’s getting.”
With polls showing that Ron Paul already has a five percent approval share in New Hampshire - and climbing - sources close to the campaign are sensing swelling support that could drive Ron Paul much higher.
It is fairly easy for a non-republican to vote in the New Hampshire primary, and Ron Paul’s message of limited government and a peaceful, free market approach is resonating in New Hampshire well beyond the boundaries of a “conservative” republican core.
Ron Paul has a good chance to do very well and maybe even win in New Hampshire, if enough hear his message and respond. Were Ron Paul to be the GOP presidential candidate, his anti-war, pro-growth, free-market message might well appeal to enough voters to put him "over the top" in a head-to-head race with a democratic candidate such as Hillary Clinton.
Clinton to return $850,000 raised by Hsu
WASHINGTON - September 10, 2007 - Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton's presidential campaign said Monday it will return $850,000 in donations raised by Democratic fundraiser Norman Hsu, who is under federal investigation for allegedly violating election laws.
Clinton, D-N.Y., previously had planned only to give to charity $23,000 she received from Hsu for her presidential and senatorial campaigns and to her political action committee, HillPac.
The FBI is investigating whether Hsu paid so-called straw donors to send campaign contributions to Clinton and other candidates, a law enforcement official said Monday.
"In light of recent events and allegations that Mr. Norman Hsu engaged in an illegal investment scheme, we have decided out of an abundance of caution to return the money he raised for our campaign," Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson said in a statement Monday night. "An estimated 260 donors this week will receive refunds totaling approximately $850,000 from the campaign."
Wolfson said the Clinton campaign also will vigorously review its fundraisers, including thorough criminal background checks, in the future. "In any instances where a source of a bundler's income is in question, the campaign will take affirmative steps to verify its origin," he said.
The amount that the campaign identified as raised by Hsu would make him one of her top fundraisers. During the first six months of this year, her presidential campaign raised $52 million from individual contributors, second to Sen. Barack Obama, D-Ill., who raised $58.5 million.
Giuliani says illegal immigration not a crime!
September 7, 2007
RUDY GIULIANI: Glenn, it's not a crime. I know that's very hard for people to understand, but it's not a federal crime.
GLENN BECK: It's a misdemeanor but if you've been nailed, it is a crime. If you've been nailed, ship back and come back, it is a crime.
GIULIANI: Glenn, being an illegal immigrant, the 400,000 were not prosecuted for crimes by the federal government, nor could they be. I was U.S. attorney in the southern district of New York. So believe me, I know this. In fact, when you throw an immigrant out of the country, it's not a criminal proceeding. It's a civil proceeding.
GLENN: Is it --
GIULIANI: One of the things that congress wanted to do a year ago is to make it a crime, which indicates that it isn't.
GLENN: Should it be?
GIULIANI: Should it be? No, it shouldn't be because the government wouldn't be able to prosecute it. We couldn't prosecute 12 million people. We have only 2 million people in jail right now for all the crimes that are committed in the country, 2.5 million. If you were to make it a crime, you would have to take the resources of the criminal justice system and increase it by about 6. In other words, you'd have to take all the 800,000 police, and who knows how many police we would have to have.
CNN seeks Ron Paul-Mike Huckabee debate!
September 6, 2007 - After the recent FoxTV-managed GOP debate fireworks in New Hampshire, CNN is actively seeking to set up an "immediate" further debate between Ron Paul (R-Tex) and former Arkansas governor and presidential candidate Mike Huckabee. Huckabee has already accepted, according to certain presidential campaign observers. And these sources add that the Ron Paul’s campaign is close to accepting as well, if the head-to-head discussion is not treated as a “sound bite” and lasts longer than a few minutes. It is not clear who would moderate such an exchange.
Ron Paul and Huckabee had a sharp exchange of words over the Iraq war during the recent GOP debate, with Ron Paul insisting, as he has throughout his campaign, that the war was a failed policy and that the troops ought to be withdrawn. Huckabee retorted that for the “honor” of the United States, the war must continue. Huckabee’s campaign manager Chip Saltsman said of the exchange: "Governor Huckabee clearly had a break-out moment during his exchange with Congressman Ron Paul during [the] debate - which illuminated his leadership qualities, experience, dedication to principle, and vision for a unified America.”
Saltsman's opinion was echoed by some who seemed - following the debate - to give Huckabee the victory; however several GOP debate polls showed that Ron Paul won the overall debate handily, including Fox’s own cell-text poll. Ron Paul is a classical conservative in the Jeffersonian tradition and does not believe in aggressive military confrontations overseas without strong provocation. He hews to the minimalist tradition of government. His views have seen increasing mainstream acceptance during the nascent presidential campaign and his fund-raising continues to strengthen.
Close observers of the current campaign scene said that it is apparent that Huckabee is running out of money and was looking for a confrontation such as the one that developed in the hopes of raising his profile – and additional cash. These sources add that Huckabee has apparently adopted the strongly pro-war line of presidential candidate Rudy Giuliani in the hopes of being considered as a vice-presidential running mate for Giuliani. The mainstream press currently considers Giuliani to be the current Republican front-runner.

FAMOUS QUOTES
Dr. N.A. Scott 1
"One of the shrewdest ways for human predators to conquer their stronger victims is to steadily convince them with propaganda that they're still free, until the trap snaps shut. Only g-r-a-d-u-a-l-l-y eliminate their born-free status, for example with federal legislation that by Law is restricted to federal areas. Just nibble a bit at a time, to see who's paying attention, and be sure to mis-educate so that the majority won't know the difference and will argue with Citizens who do."
