MEMPHIS, Tennessee (PNN) - July 7, 2010 - West Memphis, Arkansas police officers and some local prosecutors just finished training on how to identify and deal with anti-government, extremist groups.
This comes six weeks after a father-son pair of so-called "sovereign citizens", shot and killed two West Memphis police officers.
Armed robber killed in shootout with store clerk!
DELRAY BEACH, Florida - July 4, 2010 - A man who tried to rob a convenience store at gunpoint ended up being killed by the store clerk Saturday night, according to police.
The apparent robber, who has not been identified, ran into the Community Food Market at 139 Northwest Fifth Ave. around 10 p.m. and tried to rob the store, according to a police report.
Surveillance system monitors conversations!
LONDON, England - July 4, 2010 - A controversial covert surveillance system that records the public's conversations is being used in Britain.
The technology, called Sigard, monitors movements and speech to detect signs of threatening behavior. Its designers claim the system can anticipate anti-social behavior and violence by analyzing the information picked up by its sensors.
Police ordered to pay reporters they assaulted at rally!
LOS ANGELES, Kalifornia - July 3, 2010 - Three Los Angeles-area reporters who said they were physically assaulted by LAPD officers at a 2007 rally have won their day in court.
A Los Angeles County Superior Court jury has awarded one of the journalists, Fox camerawoman Patricia Ballaz, $1.7 million for lost earnings and medical expenses. Another reporter, NPR journalist Patricia Naz
Freedom of the press illegally suspended by criminal government!
WASHINGTON - July 3, 2010 - As CNN is now reporting, the U.S. government has issued a new rule that would make it a felony crime for any journalist, reporter, blogger or photographer to approach any oil cleanup operation, equipment or vessel in the Gulf of Mexico. Anyone caught is subject to arrest, a $40,000 fine and prosecution for a federal felony crime.
