with the Washington Times today, former senator Phil Gramm, who is Sen. John
McCain’s (R-Arizona) economic advisor, blamed the state of the economy on “the
conviction of many Americans that economic conditions are the worst in two or
three decades. You’ve heard of mental depression; this is a mental recession,”
said Gramm.
Congressional approval falls to single digits for first time ever!
WASHINGTON - July 8, 2008 - The
percentage of voters who give Congress good or excellent ratings has fallen to
single digits for the first time in Rasmussen Reports tracking history. This
month, just 9% say Congress is doing a good or excellent job. Most voters (52%)
say Congress is doing a poor job, which ties the record high in that dubious
category.
Obama's plane lands in St. Louis for maintenance!

The airplane carrying presumptive Democratic presidential candidate Barack
Obama made a safe, unscheduled and precautionary landing in St. Louis on Monday
after a flight control problem arose en route from Chicago to Charlotte, North
Carolina.

Convention will be chicken wire or chain link, authorities revealed in U.S.
District Court today.
Charlie Black says McCain hopes for terror attack on American soil!
WASHINGTON – June 24, 2008 - Charles R. Black, Jr., a former lobbyist who is now a top adviser to Republican presidential candidate John McCain, commented in an interview with Fortune magazine that another terrorist attack inside the U.S. would "be a big advantage" to McCain in the November presidential election. Black's comments brought the politics of fear and terrorism back into the 2008 presidential campaign, mirroring the 2004 campaign between Senator John Kerry and George W. Bush. McCain disagreed with Black's comments, saying he has long worked to prevent terrorist attacks in the the U.S. and could not imagine why Black had said such a thing. Democratic candidate Barack Obama's campaign called Black's comments "a complete disgrace." Black later backpedaled, telling reporters, "I deeply regret the comments. They were inappropriate." Richard Ben-Veniste, a close campaign adviser and representative for Obama, called Black's comments a "very disappointing glimpse into the thinking of one of McCain's closest advisers."
