DENVER, Colorado - December 10, 2009 - A cowboy who claimed he was out for a joyride on his horse discovered there isn’t much joy when cops realize you’re riding drunk.
Brian Drone was saddled up and trotting through a Denver suburb when the police stopped him.
They cited him and gave him a $25 ticket for riding an animal while under the influence.
Sgt. Jeff Monzingo says the incident was a first for him, and left officers wondering what to do with the horse. “After all,” he said, “you could tow a car, but a horse is a different matter.”
A stable owner ended up taking the horse (and its drunken rider) home to his ranch.
