I believe that all human beings live their lives based on belief systems inherent to their culture. That's a bold statement because it is inclusive of all living humanity. The statement could possibly be applied to humanity from the beginning of recorded history.
My interest is not with the past, but with the present belief systems and from where these beliefs came into being. Where do beliefs originate? How do we learn our belief systems?
Brent asks during the seminar "what would you do if everything you heard from the government was a lie?" What beliefs that you currently hold would be shattered if you suddenly knew the totality of the lies told to you by the government?
For example: Some people believe that they are free. What evidence do they have that they are free? Do they even have a "working definition" of freedom? Do they even think about the question?
Another example: Some people believe that they are required to pay the federal income tax. How did they "come to believe" that taxes are mandated by the government? Have they ever questioned the validity of the requirement?
I remember when I first read about the misinformation and lies I had believed regarding the "voluntary tax system" we have in the United States. I hadn't spent time thinking about the legitimacy of the federal income tax. I resented paying it and I thought the elected officials had mis-used my money, but I believed I was "required by law to have a social security number" and to pay taxes!
This was the first time I questioned the role between government and myself. This was the time that I realized that I had believed the government's lie and that my entire life had been based on the lie that I was living in a "free" country.
From that initial break in the foundation of lies fed to me by the federal government through government schools, I became more and more aware of the lies. I became aware of the depth of the lies. I became aware that I was, in reality, living in an invisible jail with bars constructed out of fear and intimidation.
I cannot communicate with you the depth of my devastation upon realizing that I had been living the life of a slave. Some may be able to relate to my pain. I hope that all of you understand that it is through my recognizing an erroneous belief that I was able to see the light of truth.
Upon seeing the light, I am able to change my belief system. Today I make the choice to live free. Today I make the choice to fight for freedom. Today I make the choice to speak about the lies that the federal government has told YOU. Today I choose the truth over the lie.....Ind in that choice I AM FREE!!
