LOGANVILLE, Georgia - Jul 16, 2010 - A man says he called Loganville police to his home for help and ended up being beaten by officers. Kenny Dixon said Friday that he arrived home Wednesday to find that his son had committed suicide.

Crews responded to the emergency, but Dixon said police made one of his family's darkest days even worse by attacking, then arresting him.

July 10, 2010 - Journalists are being fired for saying what they think while politicians are getting away without being questioned.

Freedom of speech may be part of the United States Constitution but perhaps the First Amendment that enshrines it could do with a caveat or two being added.

Congress may make no law "abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press", the Bill of Rights lays down. That still holds true but increasingly, speaking freely can get you fired or tarred for life.

NORFOLK, Virginia - July 18, 2010 - Two Norview High School teachers were placed on paid administrative leave this week after a parent complained that they distributed classroom materials that gave advice on how to deal with police if stopped.

The last paragraph of the flier, titled, "When Dealing with Police" states, "Remember that you have legal rights, but many police will not respect your rights. Be careful - Be Street Smart."

HAVERHILL, Massachusetts - July 15, 2010 - Two police officers are facing charges after an off-duty fracas outside a Massachusetts home ended with one officer using a Taser on the other.

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana - July 14, 2010 - Three police officers charged in the killing of two unarmed residents on a New Orleans bridge after Hurricane Katrina and a cover-up that followed pleaded not guilty on Wednesday.

Sgts. Robert Gisevius and Kenneth Bowen and Officer Anthony Villavaso stood before a federal magistrate in green prison garb, shackled at the waist and ankles. They will remain jailed at least until a hearing Friday. A tentative trial date is set for September 13.

ATLANTA, Georgia - July 13, 2010 - One officer was fired and another quit after a rural Georgia woman, who called police to complain of a prowler, was zapped repeatedly with a stun gun.

CHICAGO, Illinois (PNN) - July 12, 2010 - Chicago’s new gun ordinance is now the law. The City Council quickly passed the ordinance after the U.S. Supreme Court issued a ruling late last month that invalidated Chicago’s handgun ban.
