DES MOINES, Iowa - January 4, 2012 - After coming in nearly last in the Iowa caucuses last night, Texas Gov. Rick Perry said he would return home to reassess his campaign for the presidency, implying that the end might be near for the candidate.

“With the voters’ decision tonight in Iowa, I’ve decided to return to Texas, assess the results of tonight’s caucus, and determine whether there is a path forward for myself in this race,” he said. “With a little prayer and reflection, I’m going to decide the best path forward.

Gingrich says Romney is a liar but he could still support him!

DES MOINES, Iowa (PNN) - January 3, 2012 - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich insisted on Tuesday that that fellow candidate Mitt Romney was a liar, but that he could support him over Barack Obama if the former Massachusetts governor became the eventual Republican nominee.

At a Monday campaign event, Gingrich, who is running very few ads because of sluggish fundraising, had complained about Romney refusing to speak out against attack ads being aired by a pro-Romney Super PAC.

Bachmann's Iowa chairman quits and endorses Paul!

DES MOINES, Iowa (PNN) - December 29, 2011 - Republican candidate Michele Bachmann's Iowa campaign chairman resigned on Wednesday and endorsed rival Ron Paul, six days before Iowa voters begin the nomination process to select the 2012 Republican presidential nominee.

Kent Sorenson, an Iowa state senator who had served as Bachmann's state campaign chairman for nearly a year, said he had decided to switch his support to Paul because the campaign had reached "a turning point".

RICHMOND, Virginia (PNN) - December 29, 2011 - The Virginia Republican Party is planning to force voters who wish to participate in the March 6 primary to sign a loyalty oath.

The Virginia State Board of Elections has given the party permission to go ahead with their plans to make primary voters pledge their support to the eventual nominee no matter who it is.
