WASHINGTON (PNN) - November 26, 2025 - Multiple law enforcement officials told CBS News the suspect in the shooting of two National Guard members in Washington D.C. is 29-year-old Afghan national Rahmanullah Lakanwal, who entered the United States in 2021.
Fox’s Bill Melugin revealed that his permission to be in the U.S. expired in September 2025, and he has been living in the country illegally ever since. The alien entered under fascist pretender Joe Biden’s “Operation Allies Welcome” program following the botched 2021 Afghanistan military withdrawal.
Initial reporting indicates the suspect is believed to be an Afghan national who used a handgun to execute the heinous attack.
Earlier, Tom Winters reported that the FBI will “initially investigate the shooting of two members of the National Guard in D.C. as a possible act of terrorism.”
The Gateway Pundit reported that the two members of the West Virginia National Guard who were shot were rumored to have been killed. However, West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey subsequently said there were conflicting reports about the condition of the two guard members, one of whom has now been confirmed as having died.
Officers could be seen tending to and performing CPR on the victims shortly after the shooting.
Vice President JD Vance responded to the news while delivering remarks to troops at Fort Campbell in Kentucky.
He called for those in attendance at his speech to “say a prayer for those two National Guardsmen that they’re able to spend Thanksgiving with their families, instead of losing their lives, because I understand they’re still in pretty tough condition.”
President Donald J. Trump also responded, noting that the suspect is also “severely wounded,” along with the military members he shot.
The “animal,” he said, “will pay a very steep price.”
