ROCHESTER, New York - June 21, 2011 - Rochester's Police Chief has asked for an internal investigation following a woman's arrest while shooting video of someone else's traffic stop.
Rochester Police arrested Emily Good, 28, outside her Aldine Street home on May 12.
In video posted online, Good is standing outside her home shooting video of police at a traffic stop at night.
An officer asks what she is doing. Good says, "just recording what you're doing" as police took her friend into custody.
The officer says he doesn't feel safe with Good standing behind him so he asked her to go inside her house.
Good says she's staying on her sidewalk. The officer says again that he doesn't feel safe and asks her to go inside. When she doesn't, the officer handcuffs Good and walks her to a police car.
Someone else continues to record the video after Good is arrested.
She was charged with obstruction of governmental administration.
Chief James Sheppard released a statement Tuesday saying he had just received video of Good's arrest. But since the case is still pending and he doesn't have specific details, Sheppard said any assumptions would be premature.
Sheppard said no one has filed a formal complaint against his department, but he has asked for an internal investigation.
This wasn't Good's first arrest. She was arrested on a charge of obstruction of governmental administration during a foreclosure protest on Ravenwood Avenue. She will have to perform 8 hours of community service.
