WASHINGTON (PNN) - November 14, 2025 - On Thursday’s broadcast of Newsmax TV’s Rob Schmitt Tonight, Agriculture Secretary Brooke Rollins discussed current data on food stamps.
Rollins said, “Twenty-nine states, mostly the red states, responded with their data sets, February, March, April… but here is the most unbelievable news I have really (discovered), just over the last few days. (Apparently,) 5,000 dead people, that was just one month, the number is closer to 186,000 deceased men, women and children in this country are receiving a check. That is what we are really going to start clamping down on (and stopping). Half a million (people) are getting two (checks). But here is the really stunning thing: this is just data from those twenty-nine mostly red states. Can you imagine when we get our hands on the blue state data, what we are going to find?”
She continued, “(This) is going to give us a platform and trajectory to fundamentally rebuild this program, have everyone reapply for (his or her) benefit, make sure that everyone that is taking a taxpayer-funded benefit through SNAP or food stamps (is) literally vulnerable and can’t survive without it. That is the next step here.”
