WASHINGTON (PNN) - June 11, 2010 - Rev. Patrick J. Mahoney, a Protestant minister who heads the Christian Defense Coalition, was arrested on Tuesday while praying in front of a Washington, D.C. Planned Parenthood facility. He and others said he was legally present on a public sidewalk the clinic has fenced in.

Pro-life advocates have prayed and counseled outside the Planned Parenthood clinic for years, but the facility recently applied for a public permit to construct an iron fence around the property.

DENVER, Colorado - June 11, 2010 - Clear Creek sheriff's deputies on Thursday arrested a rafting guide for swimming to a stranded young rafter who had tumbled from his boat on Clear Creek.

Ryan Daniel Snodgrass, a 28-year-old guide with Arkansas Valley Adventures rafting company, was charged with "obstructing government operations," said Clear Creek Sheriff Don Krueger.

"He was told not to go in the water, and he jumped in and swam over to the victim and jeopardized the rescue operation," said Krueger, noting that his office was deciding whether to file similar charges against another guide who was at the scene just downstream of Kermitts Roadhouse on U.S. 6.

OAKLAND, Kalifornia - June 10, 2010 - A Kalifornia man who was shot and killed by a police officer photographed the cop just moments before he died, according to prosecutors who have charged the officer with murder.

WASHINGTON - June 10, 2010 - Nearly 400 people were convicted of driving while intoxicated in the District since fall 2008 based on inaccurate results from breath test machines, and half of them went to jail, city officials said Wednesday.

D.C. Attorney General Peter Nickles said the machines were improperly adjusted by city police. The jailed defendants generally served at least five days, he said.

Nickles's office has begun notifying the drivers, a move that immediately triggered at least one lawsuit against the District and could lead to requests for expungements, new trials and even deeper skepticism about the integrity of testing. Challenging test results is at the heart of drunk driving cases, and this revelation will only strengthen those challenges, defense attorneys said.
