SANTA FE, New Mexico - October 1, 2010 - Students in Santa Fe have to wear ID badges to class, complete with a built-in tracking device.

The Smart Badge program started this school year, and is getting mixed reviews from parents and students.

ATLANTA, Georgia - September 29, 2010 - For many living in a terror-spooked country, it might seem like a great government innovation: Use vans equipped with mobile X-ray units to scan vehicles at major sporting events, or even randomly, for bombs or contraband.

But news that the U.S. is buying custom-made vans packed with something called backscatter X-ray capacity has riled privacy advocates and sparked Internet worries about "feds radiating Amerikans."

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Georgia - September 29, 2010 - A team of federal agents stopped tractor-trailers on Interstate 20 just west of Atlanta, inspecting each truck as it passed through a weigh station, and Channel 2 has learned its part of a counter-terrorism operation.

Channel 2's Linda Stouffer reported a flashing sign on the interstate directed the trucks to pull into a state-owned inspection station near Lee Road in Douglas County at the height of the evening commute.

NOGALES, Arizona - September 28, 2010 - The mayor of Nogales was arrested Tuesday on multiple charges including bribery, theft, fraud and money laundering, Arizona's attorney general said.

Mayor Octavio Garcia Von Borstel, 29, was taken into custody at his office at Nogales City Hall. Search warrants were executed at the mayor's home, business and office.

BALTIMORE, Maryland - September 27, 2010 - A Harford County Circuit Court judge Monday dismissed wiretapping charges against Anthony Graber, a motorcyclist who was jailed briefly after he taped a Maryland state trooper who stopped him for speeding on I-95. Graber used a camera mounted on his helmet, then posted the video on YouTube.

ARLINGTON, Massachusetts - September 26, 2010 - For the first time in 40 years, high-school students in Arlington, Massachusetts are able to recite, in a school environment, those familiar words: "I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
