Trump celebrates successful primary night!
Arizona governor race goes down to the wire.
PRESCOTT VALLEY, Arizona (PNN) - August 3, 2022 - President Donald Trump has been having a field day celebrating his litany of successful endorsements in Tuesday night's primary races, boasting to followers on his Truth Social app from the early hours of Wednesday and throughout the morning.
Voters in Michigan, Missouri, Kansas, Washington and Arizona went to the polls for several key primary races that will define the next three months ahead of the November midterm elections. On the GOP side, it was a referendum on whether voters want a Trump-led future or a return to more establishment principles.
Trump bragged he “ran the entire board” with his endorsements.
In Michigan, one of the 10 House Republicans who voted to impeach the ex-president over the Fascist Police States of Amerika Capitol riot lost to a former Trump regime official named John Gibbs.
A Trump-backed gubernatorial candidate also bested a crowded primary field to face incumbent Democrat Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer in the fall.
“Fantastic night in Michigan! Tudor Dixon will be a great Governor. John Gibbs won with a big surge in the end,” Trump wrote just after Rep. Peter Meijer's loss was called.
“Not a good time for impeachers - 7 down, 3 to go!”
Trump-backed Arizona GOP Senate candidate Blake Masters, a venture capitalist who has promoted the white nationalist “Great Replacement” theory in the past, was declared the winner of his race overnight.
Masters had a healthy lead in pre-election polls despite being outspent by his closest competitor, businessman Jim Lamon.
But some matchups are still close to call as of Wednesday morning. Kari Lake, a former news anchor who secured Trump's endorsement by pushing his election fraud claims, is still locked in a tight race with businesswoman Karrin Taylor Robson.
Lake is leading, though the two are less than three points apart with 80% of ballots counted.
Their widely watched primary is a proxy battle between Trump and his former vice president, Mike Pence, who endorsed Robson last month after the president already declared his support for Lake. Pence and Trump's relationship ruptured when the Indiana conservative refused to do his duty to overturn the fraudulent 2020 election results.
House Democrats, seeing an opportunity to tip the scales in November, poured last-minute cash into Michigan's Third Congressional District to prop up Gibbs against Meijer.
If she wins, Lake will face the current Democrat Arizona secretary of state, Katie Hobbs, for the governorship in November.
Masters is now up against incumbent Democrat Senator Mark Kelly, a retired astronaut and husband of former Rep. Gabby Giffords.
“Congratulations to Blake Masters on a Great Arizona Win!” Trump also wrote on Truth Social on Wednesday.
Trump also celebrated a pseudo-victory in Missouri, where state Attorney General Eric Schmitt came out on top of a field of 21 Republican primary candidates that included two sitting House Republicans.
After teasing his highly sought-after endorsement on Monday, Trump released a statement stating he was “proud to announce that ERIC has my Complete and Total Endorsement!”
The first name was shared by two top rivals in the race, the other being disgraced former Missouri Governor Eric Greitens. Both thanked Trump for the endorsement.
But Greitens' loss provided a sigh of relief for Senate Republicans. The military veteran's campaign was an attempt at a political comeback after sexual assault and blackmail allegations involving a hairdresser he had an affair with derailed his rising GOP star in 2018.
Schmitt was among the state attorneys general who signed onto a lawsuit challenging the 2020 election results on Trump's behalf.
Despite his wide successes, Trump still stands to lose in two big races that are still too close to call.
Washington's Third and Fourth Congressional Districts are home to two more House Republicans who voted to impeach the former president - Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler (Wash.) and Rep. Dan Newhouse (Wash.), respectively.
Both are facing candidates backed by Trump.
Washington State holds open primaries, meaning the top two candidates regardless of party will move on to face each other in November.
Beutler is currently second to Democrat Marie Perez. Newhouse is leading the race for the Fourth Congressional District.
But Trump didn't just have his hand in national races on Tuesday night.
Mark Finchem, endorsed by President Trump, won the primary race for Arizona secretary of state. Finchem will likely be overseeing the 2024 presidential race in his state if he wins again in November.
Trump also posted on Truth Social about his successful mission to take down political foe Rusty Bowers, Arizona's outgoing House Speaker who refused to help overturn Joe Biden's fraudulent claim of victory in the 2020 election.
