The Story of the Starfish!
One day a man was walking along the beach. The sun was shining and it was a beautiful day.
Off in the distance, he noticed a little boy going back and forth between the beach and the ocean. Back and forth, back and forth the little boy went.
As the man got nearer, he could see that there were hundreds if not thousands of starfish stranded on the beach due to an extremely low tide. The man was taken aback by the futility of what the little boy was doing. There were far too many stranded starfish and they would surely all perish. Nevertheless, the little boy continued his task of picking up a starfish and placing it back in the ocean.
After watching this scene for some time, the man walked up to the little boy and said, “There are miles of beach covered with starfish. You can’t possibly make a difference.”
The little boy smiled at him as he picked up another starfish and returned it to the water. He turned back to the man and said, “It sure made a difference to that one.”
