How politicians steal homes and sell them for a profit!
One missed tax payment and the government takes your entire house, sells it and keeps all the money. It’s hard to believe that could happen in America, but it does. It happened to Tawanda Hall. Hall was behind on her property taxes. She was on a payment plan, but short $900. What did her county government do? They took her entire $308,000 house. Hall tried to pay off the debt but says, “They didn’t want our money. They wanted our house." I covered her story two years ago. Her lawyer, Christina Martin of the Pacific Legal Foundation, told me this is unconstitutional. “The government can’t take more than it’s owed,” she explains. Now, she’s won in the Supreme Court. The justices voted 9-0 that such takings are unconstitutional. Yet, in a handful of states, greedy government officials still steal people’s homes. John Stossel reports.
