Police officer arrested for assaulting handcuffed juvenile!
CHATTANOOGA, Tennessee - January 27, 2010 - Internal Affairs Investigators with the Chattanooga Police Department arrested Officer Sean O’Brien Wednesday following a complaint of an assault that occurred at the Juvenile Detention Unit this past Saturday night.
Investigators were alerted by employees of the Juvenile Detention Center after witnessing Officer O’Brien hit a handcuffed 14-year-old arrestee.
According to the complaint, the juvenile was seated in the intake hallway when an exchange of words occurred between the arrestee and Officer O’Brien. Investigators say shortly thereafter O’Brien hit the handcuffed juvenile in the head and then pushed him into the wall.
O’Brien has been charged with assault. A police department spokesperson said further action against Officer O’Brien will be pending disposition of the internal investigation and court case.
