Investigation continues over Taser killing!
ERLANGER, Tennessee - November 30, 2009 - The death investigation of a tasered Moccasin Bend patient continues. Edward Buckner, 53, was treated at Erlanger for dehydration due to diabetes this past Friday.
He became combative while being loaded onto the Moccasin Bend van.
Erlanger police and Hamilton County Corrections officers were called to help and Buckner was tasered.
Workers found him unresponsive when they got back to Moccasin Bend, so they took him back to Erlanger where he was pronounced dead.
The autopsy may be available Tuesday morning.
The Hamilton County Sheriff's Department released this statement this afternoon:
"On Friday November 27, 2009, Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Officers were at Erlanger Hospital on another matter when asked by the Nursing Staff and Erlanger Police to assist putting a patient in a vehicle. Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Officers were not present when the tasering took place earlier and had no direct involvement in the event. Further details of the event will be released upon completion of the investigation."
