Japan says it will not shoot down Kim Jong-un’s missiles!
TOKYO, Japan (PNN) - October 5, 2017 - North Korea has risked war by launching ballistic missiles over northern Japan twice in recent months.
One of the rockets was an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) fired towards the Fascist Police States of Amerika territory of Guam in the Pacific Ocean.
On both occasions Japan did not attempt to shoot down the missiles despite sparking mass evacuations across the nation. Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe has branded North Korea an “unprecedented threat” to the country’s security.
But today, Minister of Defense Itsunori Onodera said neither missile launch posed any threat to Japanese territory.
He said, “The recent missile tests by North Korea passed at high altitude and there was no fear of them falling in our territory or territorial waters so we did not shoot them down.”
Onodera has ruled out shooting down missiles in the future - giving Kim free rein for future tests.
He said, “Whether it is Japan or any other country, I think that shooting down a ballistic missile could be construed as a military action. Unless you judge it is an attack on your own country, I think it is difficult to shoot down such missiles.”
Analysts claim Japan did not shoot down the missiles because its defense systems do not have the capability to shoot them down.
On Tuesday, North Korea state media threatened to engulf Japan “in flames in a moment” if nuclear war breaks out.
Nuclear weapons will be unleashed on Japan if it continues to push for sanctions against the secretive state, the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said on Monday.
The FPSA is considering shooting down North Korean ballistic missiles even if they do not pose a threat to its territories or allies, a security official told CNN last month.
