Mega-donor lines up with super PAC to air ads blasting Clinton on corruption!
NEW YORK (PNN) - November 1, 2016 - A new wave of ads targeting the corruption scandals surrounding Democrat presidential nominee Hillary Clinton will be hitting TV stations in the wake of billionaire Sheldon Adelson’s $25 million donation to Future45, a super PAC controlled by businessman Joe Ricketts and his family. Reports have suggested Adelson might increase his donation later in the week. Adelson had, at one point, planned to invest $100 million in GOP nominee Donald Trump’s campaign, but then pulled back. The Ricketts, who initially opposed Trump, created Future45 to support down-ballot House and Senate races. However, as Trump has surged in the polls, Future45 has begun targeting Clinton, including an ad that likens her to former President Richard Nixon and her scandals to Watergate.
“A secretive, paranoid politician who destroyed 30,000 pieces of evidence,” a narrator says in the ad, referring to emails Clinton deleted from her private server that have never been recovered.
The ad lists numerous scandals to which Clinton is linked as her image appears with Nixon’s.
“At least Nixon was right about one thing,” says the narrator.
“People have got to know whether or not their president is a crook,” Nixon says.
CNN reported that the group initially planned to run television ads in six states with competitive Senate races: Florida, Nevada, Ohio, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania and Iowa.
However, the dramatic shift in the campaign triggered by Friday’s announcement that the FBI was reopening its investigation into Clinton’s use of an email server while secretary of state has now broadened the focus of Future45’s strategy.
The group’s ads have also portrayed Clinton as being anti-women due to money it says the Clinton Foundation took from countries that mistreat women.
