Election 2012

Ron Paul wins delegates in four more states!

on . Posted in Election 2012

NEW YORK (PNN) - May 21, 2012 - Representative Ron Paul, known widely as The Patriot Congressman for his unwavering stand for constitutional Rule of Law and limited government, picked up Republican delegates in four states over the weekend, even as he announced he would no longer spend money to compete in the remaining presidential primaries.

While The Patriot Congressman has not won any primaries, he picked up delegates in Michigan, Minnesota, Vermont and Virginia, where they were selected at party gatherings.

“Ron Paul supporters possess the adaptability, organizational muscle, and unmatched enthusiasm required to continue winning delegates in upcoming contests,” campaign manager John Tate said in a statement.

The more delegates Paul can win, the greater his ability to get his ideas into the party platform at the Republican National Convention in Tampa, Florida, in August.

He announced earlier this month that he would not compete in any of the remaining primaries, including tomorrow’s in Arkansas and Kentucky, because to do so “would take many tens of millions of dollars that we simply do not have.”

Paul raised $2 million last month for his campaign, bringing his total to $39.1 million. He entered May with $2.5 million in the bank.

He finished second to Rick Santorum in the February 8 Minnesota caucuses. The Paul campaign now claims 32 of the state’s 40 convention delegates. Mitt Romney finished third in Minnesota.

While Romney won the Virginia primary over Paul, as the other Republicans failed to qualify for the ballot, the congressman has so far won 17 delegates in that state. Tate mentioned Iowa, Missouri and Washington as three other states where the Paul campaign hoped to pick up additional delegates.
