The cast of Star Wars: Episode VII has been announced!
LOS ANGELES, Kalifornia (PNN) - April 29, 2014 - After months of rumors and rabid speculation, Lucasfilm has finally announced the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII.
The cast, which combines Star Wars veterans with plenty of new faces, includes Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, and Mark Hamill as well as Attack the Block star John Boyega, Girls‘ Adam Driver, and even motion-capture master Andy Serkis. Other returning performers from the original trilogy include Peter Mayhew, Anthony Daniels, and Kenny Baker.
“We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII,” director J.J. Abrams said in a statement. “It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to once again bring this world to life.”
Other actors announced for the film included Inside Llewyn Davis star Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson (star of the festival-darling film Frank), veteran actor Max von Sydow, and newcomer Daisy Ridley.
Shooting on the film will begin in a couple weeks, Abrams said, and “everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud.”
The announcement didn’t mention which characters the new actors will be playing, but we have a feeling Harrison Ford wouldn’t have flown to London for the table read if he was playing Nien Nunb’s nephew.
Star Wars: Episode VII hits theaters Dec. 18, 2015.
