The FBI can turn on your smart phone mic and listen to you!
NEW YORK (PNN) - August 14, 2013 - Okay all you PC and Android users out there: be warned. The Wall Street Journal just broke the story of Amerikan Gestapo Federal Bureau of Investigation division agents using malware on smart phones and PCs to listen to individuals suspected of wrongdoing.
Basically, the outlaw FBI is illegally hacking people's devices so that they can turn the mic on and listen in on conversations, in violation of the Constitution and fundamental law. To be fair, the FBI does need to obtain a warrant and there doesn't seem to yet be any evidence of it using these seriously shady tactics against anyone who could remotely be a decent person.
As far as the records show, only members of organized crime, terrorist cells, and child pornographers have thus far been subject to this sort of surveillance. The FBI is also supposedly only using these techniques when it has no other choice. We're not exactly sure what that means, but it doesn't sound entirely on the up and up.
As for you OS folks, we're not entirely sure that this particular hack relates to you, since Apple has to be complicit in anything you download onto its devices. That being said, nobody ever said Apple was above complying with terrorist government orders.
They're listening. You have been warned.
