CLEARWATER, Florida (PNN) - April 3, 2021 - Students at Clearwater High School in Florida have been warned that they will be “re-educated” on the importance of wearing a mask if they are seen on school premises not wearing a face covering.

An advisory posted on the school’s website regarding face mask policy tells students, teachers, staff, and any visitors that masks are mandatory on all school property as well as on school buses.

The section on “noncompliance” then spells out the punishment for anyone caught flouting the rules.

DES MOINES, Iowa (PNN) - April 3, 2021 - Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signed legislation into law on Friday lifting some restrictions to buy or carry a handgun in the state for law-abiding citizens.

The NRA-backed legislation named House File 756 will take effect on July 1 and eliminates the requirement for law-abiding Iowans to obtain a permit to purchase a handgun from private non-licensed sources. Additionally, to carry a weapon, people will no longer need to have a permit as well.

Individuals will still have to follow federal law and go through an instant background check to buy from licensed sellers each time they purchase a gun.

TALLAHASSEE, Florida (PNN) - April 2, 2021 - Florida Governor Ron DeSantis issued an emergency order Friday prohibiting “vaccine passports” as proof a person has received COVID-19 shots in the state.

The move also banned businesses in Florida from requiring customers to show documentation that they’ve been vaccinated against the virus, according to the executive action.

“Businesses in Florida are prohibited from requiring patrons or customers to provide any documentation certifying COVID-19 vaccination or post-transmission recovery to gain access to, entry upon, or service from the business,” it states. “This order is effective immediately.”

WASHINGTON (PNN) - April 1, 2021 - Fox News host Tucker Carlson took aim at Canada’s policy of quarantining travelers in “designated facilities” - hotels the broadcast personality called “internment camps”.

“What if your next-door neighbor suddenly went dangerously insane and started holding people hostage in his house?” asked Carlson.

“Canada, the land mass directly to our north and our single largest trading partner, with whom we share the longest international border in the world, took a dramatic move towards legitimately dangerous authoritarianism,” he continued. “Yes, Canada.”

MADISON, Wisconsin (PNN) -  March 31, 2021 - The Wisconsin Supreme Court on Wednesday blocked Democrat Governor Tony Evers from issuing any new public health emergency orders to mandate face masks without the approval of the Republican-controlled state Legislature.

In a 4-3 decision, conservative justices in the majority declared the statewide mask mandate invalid and ruled Evers exceeded his authority in issuing multiple emergency declarations over the nonexistent COVID-19 pandemic. Evers used the emergency orders to require face coverings be worn indoors statewide after lawmakers opted not to do so.

LAS VEGAS, Nevada (PNN) - March 31, 2021 - Las Vegas is no stranger to exclusive VIP lists, but there’s a new way of limiting guest access coming to town: vaccine passports.

These digital credential systems can show whether someone has been vaccinated against COVID-19 and can help businesses limit access to those who have been inoculated. The systems were designed to increase health and safety at various venues, but experts warn of pushback over concerns on privacy and personal choice.

“What we’re seeing throughout the (nonexistent) pandemic is people guarding their personal rights, and I think a lot of people will find that intrusive in their day to day,” said Jonathan Day, an associate professor of hospitality and tourism management at Purdue University.

Even as states loosen or lift their mask mandates, private companies are holding fast to them. This juke move is causing too many conservatives and libertarians on the Right to falter. Whereas in the former case, imposing masks on people was a violation of their rights, dignity, and the fundamental norms of civilization, the latter is seen as merely the exercise of property rights.
