White House asks public to report people opposed to health care bill!
WASHINGTON - August 2, 2009 - People all around the country, who have actually read the proposed healthcare legislation and are educating others, are facing unknown repercussions from the federal government after it announced and posted that it wants the public to report opposition to its health care proposal directly to the White House.
The specific statement that is posted on the whitehouse.gov web site in a blog by Macon Phillips titled "Facts are Stubborn Things" states in part, "There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. Some citizens are outraged by the move and they are likening it to the McCarthy-era communist witch-hunts of the late 40's and 50's; when citizens were asked to turn-in others for being pro-communist or participating in 'un-American' activities.
One Southern Oregon citizen who wished to remain anonymous stated, "It's kind of like reverse McCarthyism. You see, back then they were clumsily going after communists; now the communists are going after the patriots. I'm just waiting for the establishment of a House Committee on Un-Obama Activities. Oh, wait, don't we already have that?"
